Hwy 65 traffic detour begins June 21 near Littlefork


DULUTH, Minn. – Motorists traveling on northbound and southbound Hwy 65 near Littlefork will be detoured onto Koochiching County Road 8 beginning Friday, June 21. The detour is expected to add about 30-minutes to travel-time.

The detour will be in place until August 9, 2013.

The detour is necessary while crews replace four bridges on Hwy 65 with box-culverts.

A second detour will be in place from about August 2 – 30. This detour will be located near Silverdale on St. Louis County Roads 74, 356 and 23, and on Bureau of Indian Affairs 11. This detour will add about 10-minutes to drive-time.

The finished project will improve drainage and replace several aging bridges.
