Project part of Better Roads for a Better Minnesota

DULUTH, Minn. — Motorists will encounter lane closures on Hwy 71 between Big Falls and Pelland as crews work on a resurfacing project that began July 28.

Flaggers will control traffic through the project area.

The 28-mile project is scheduled to be complete in mid-October.

Resurfacing Hwy 71 is part of the Better Roads for a Better Minnesota program. The goal of this program is to improve more than 700 miles of roads and reduce “poor” pavements throughout Minnesota. For more information, visit www.dot.state.mn.us/betterroads/.

When complete, Hwy 71 will have a smoother and safer driving surface.

The contractor is KGM Contractors Inc. for this $7,297,725 project.
