Public meeting on Hwy 1 reconstruction in Effie set for March 31
EFFIE, Minn. --The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend a discussion on the reconstruction of Hwy 1 in downtown Effie, Minn., on March 31.
When: Thursday, March 31—Informal open house begins at 5 p.m.; project presentation begins at 7 p.m.
Where: Effie City Hall—Located at the junction of Hwy 38 and Hwy 1.
Officials from the city of Effie and Mn/DOT are developing plans for a streetscape improvement for Hwy 1 in downtown Effie. The upcoming $1.2 million project will begin construction in 2012 along the Highway 1 corridor from its junction with Hwy 38 to approximately one-half mile east.
The project will add new curbs and gutters, sidewalks, parking lanes, decorative benches, landscaping, street lighting and drainage improvements.
Hwy 1 in Effie is the northerly bookend of the 47-mile long Hwy 38 known as the Edge of the Wilderness National Scenic Byway—the first national scenic byway designated in Minnesota.
