Bridge painting requires detour on Grand Avenue in Duluth beginning Oct. 10

 

DULUTH, Minn. — Motorists traveling east on Grand Avenue near 59th Avenue West in Duluth will encounter a detour beginning Monday, Oct. 10. The detour will be in place for about one week and is necessary while crews paint the Interstate 35 bridges over Grand Avenue.

 

Detour route: Eastbound Grand Avenue, right on Raleigh Street, left on Central Avenue and back to Grand Avenue.

Westbound Grand Avenue traffic will not be affected.

 

Motorists traveling east on Grand Avenue should allow extra travel time to reach their destinations and expect backups.

 

This bridge painting project is part of the I-35 Mega Project scheduled to be open to normal traffic patterns by late October 2011. Painting bridges helps prolong their serviceable life.
