Location correction for Thursday night’s closure
I-35, I-535 in Duluth to close for brief periods over three nights beginning Aug. 2

DULUTH, Minn. — Motorists will experience nighttime delays for two nights on I-35 and one night on I-535 in Duluth beginning Aug. 2, while crews install overhead digital message signs.

Installation requires I-35 and I-535 to close for periodic intervals of up to 15 minutes. Construction crews will work from 10 p.m. to about 5 a.m.; however, closures will not occur until after 11 p.m.

The work has been scheduled at night to minimize traffic impacts.

Sign installation schedule:
Tuesday, August 2 ─ Northbound I-35 just below Hwy 2 on the Thompson Hill
Wednesday, August 3 ─ Northbound I-35 at 5th Avenue West
Thursday, August 4 ─ Southbound I-535 near Garfield Avenue

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time to reach their destinations or take an alternate route during the project.

Digital message signs are a safety tool used to communicate messages to motorists about crashes, projects, weather-related issues and Amber Alerts.
