Mn/DOT asks property owners to use only blue or white reflectors to mark driveway entrances
DULUTH, Minn. — Property owners are advised to use only blue or white reflectors when marking their driveway entrances, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
According to Bob Wryk, Mn/DOT Highway Operations Superintendent for Northeastern Minnesota, people who are considering installing driveway markers should use these safety guidelines:
- Reflectors should be only blue or white in color. Drivers can easily confuse red or yellow reflectors with motor vehicle tail lights or vehicle warning lights.
- Reflectors should be at least 12 feet away from the shoulder of the road to reduce the chances of being covered by snow when the road is plowed.
- Reflectors should not be placed on mailboxes or permanent posts and should be no higher than five feet from the ground.
