Scoping and Cost Estimating
Escalating costs are affecting more and more transportation projects nationwide and in Minnesota.
Mn/DOT initiatives in scoping and cost estimating are helping the department improve its ability to estimate and manage project costs.
The relationship between scoping and cost estimating is a close one: A comprehensive project scope is the first step to determining accurate cost estimates.
This web site provides a resource for project managers, estimators, and other Mn/DOT staff as they complete the scoping process and scoping reports and as they begin to use the new cost estimating and cost management process that is currently under development.
