Work Zone Safety Driving Tips
Mn/DOT wants you to return home safely to your family. You can make trips a little safer by remembering the following work zone safety tips.

  • Stay alert, expect the unexpected.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts - merge when directed to do so.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Don't speed in work zones; obey the posted speed limits.
  • Avoid using mobile phones while driving in work zones.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Be patient!

Over the next several months, Mn/DOT is preparing to clear this corridor with a building demolition project slated for the fall of 2006.

Highway 10

Highway 10 through Staples (June 26, 2006) Construction of the Highway 10 improvement project through Staples remains on schedule, and is expected to begin in the spring of 2007. Over the next several months, Mn/DOT is preparing to clear this corridor with a building demolition project slated for the fall of 2006.

Highway 22

Detour planned for Highway 22 construction south of Richmond (May 1, 2006) Beginning Monday, May 8, motorists will be detoured via Highway 23 and Stearns County Road 43 while crews begin working on the Highway 22 construction project. Detour map

Highway 47

Highway 47 work will resume in Mille Lacs and Aitkin Counties (April 25, 2005) Beginning the week of Monday, May 1, crews will resume work on the Highway 47 safety improvement project between Isle in Mille Lacs County, and the junction of U.S. Highway 169 in Aitkin in Aitkin County.

Interstate 94

Work resumes on installation of cable median barrier on Interstate 94 (April 12, 2006) The safety improvement installation of a high-tension four-cable median barrier is set to resume on Monday, April 17. Crews began the installation in the fall until they were restricted by weather.

Highway 169

Intermittent lane closures begin for Highway 169 in Aitkin County (May 23, 2006) Crews will be working on shoulder restoration maintenance on Highway 169 from Hill City to Aitkin. Work will be done Monday through Thursday during daytime hours. Work is expected to be complete by mid-July.

Highway 241

Highway 241 detour scheduled to begin in St. Michael (May 1, 2006) Beginning Saturday, May 6, Highway 241 will be closed from Oakwood Parkway to Larabee Avenue, and two detours will go into effect in the city of St. Michael.
