Get in, get out and stay out ... Federal Highway Administration
Minnesotans want quality projects delivered faster with shorter construction times and minimal maintenance that will affect traffic. MnDOT has initiated several innovative contracting techniques to accomplish this:
- Motorist and worker safety is a top priority for MnDOT
- Annually, there 600 deaths from crashes
- Road rage due to congestion or work zones is a growing concern
Design-build can improve safety by fast-tracking safety improvement projects. Other innovative contracting methods can reduce the time that workers and motorists spend in work zones.
- Construction and land acquisition costs increase each year.
- Congestion results in lost time and wages. Twin Cities drivers average 34 hours per year stuck in traffic.
