Short-term Goals

• Refine design-build process for small projects
• Work with industry to improve design-build process
• Develop innovative contracting procedures and guidelines
• Support districts that are considering innovative contracting

Long-term Goals

• Identify new innovative contracting initiatives
• Develop a communication plan for innovative contracting strategies
• Review and advance innovative products and ideas
• Provide training and staff development for innovative contracting projects
• Serve as liaison between Mn/DOT and industry on innovative contracting processes
• Support and educate local governmental units on innovative contracting

Accomplishments

• Created design-build template to be used on future projects
• Developed procedures to aid staff in initiating and selecting teams for design-build projects
• Created standard special provisions that incorporate innovative contracting techniques statewide
• Implemented A + B, incentives, warranties and pay for performance specifications on several projects statewide
• Documented lessons learned and results of innovative contracting
