About the project
The Winona Bridge project is scheduled to begin in 2014. MnDOT is currently in the preliminary phase, which includes concept development and coordination with State and Federal agencies. A recommended concept was identified in summer 2012.
Stakeholder and public involvement will be integral to the preliminary design and environmental documentation process. Municipal approval of the preferred alternative will be required from the city of Winona before proceeding to final design.
The project will result in a structurally sound bridge crossing the Mississippi River, improve traffic operations at the bridge touch-down points and improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.
