About this project
The proposed project would expand this segment of highway from two to four lanes, mostly along a new alignment that would shift the roadway south of the railroad tracks. This is the only remaining two-lane section of Hwy 14 between Mankato and Rochester.
Benefits
This project will improve safety and mobility, and will foster economic growth along the corridor.
Key issues
This project needs approximately 200 acres of right of way and relocation of some residents. There will also be challenges dealing with at-grade railroad crossings, contaminated properties, elevated noise levels and wetland issues.
