Hwy 15, St. Cloud/Sartell Interchanges

About the project

St. Cloud/Sartell Stearns County Road 120
A diverging diamond interchange will be constructed at Hwy 15 and Stearns CR 120 in Sartell and St. Cloud to improve local access, increase safety and reduce congestion. This area has experienced significant growth and new development, leading to congestion and poor operating conditions at the existing intersection. A diverging diamond interchange was selected because of its ability to handle the unusually high volumes of left-turning traffic at this location. The design also allows for further expansion in the future.
The project was selected to receive $10 million in Greater Minnesota interchange funds based on economic development, safety and congestion needs and is consistent with the long-term vision for the Highway 15 corridor.

Additional information on this diverging diamond interchange is available at:  http://www.dot.state.mn.us/d3/hwy15ddi/.

St. Cloud 33rd Street
The city of St. Cloud is planning to construct a new interchange on Hwy 15 at 33rd Street South. Regional plans identify this area as a primary location for future growth, but it currently lacks access from Highway 15 between I-94 and Highway 23. This project will provide full interchange access to this area. It is funded in part through an $8 million Transportation Economic Development grant.

Project benefits

The CR 120 interchange will provide better access to medical facilities and a large retail complex, lessening congestion and improving safety and operations at the intersection while accommodating new and future development.

The 33rd Street interchange will provide safe and convenient access to support existing and future development in an area planned for significant future growth.
