It is important for bicyclists to bike safely. Bicyclists are required to follow the same road rules as motorists.

| Proper helmet fit |
1. Always wear a helmet. A properly worn helmet is your best protection against injury. Your bicycle helmet should fit properly and be worn the correct way. For more information on fitting a helmet, go to the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute or State Bicycle Advisory Committee website. To purchase helmets go to the Minnesota Safety Council
.
Signaling a Right Turn
2. Use hand signals when you are turning or stopping. Look over your left shoulder for traffic before you make a move. This also signals motorists. For turns, work your way into the proper lane 150 feet early; if you can’t get in by 40 to 50 feet before the turn, go straight and double back. When turning right, do not cut off another bicyclist.
