Minnesota is currently developing a CAV Strategic Plan that will address short term goals (testing and early deployments) and long term strategies that will address how to design and operate our roadways for CAV technology. The CAV Plan is expected to be completed in early 2019.
Connected and Autonomated Vehicle Statewide Jurisdictional Committee
Minnesota has formed a committee of state agencies to discuss the advancement of CAV technology. The goal of this group is to provide the legal framework for safe testing of vehicles, and address regulation changes necessary to implement CAV technology. The committee includes the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), Department of Public Safety (State Patrol, Traffic Safety, Vehicle Regulation), Department of Commerce (Insurance), the Minnesota Council on Disability, and the Metropolitan Council.
Guidestar Board of Directors
Minnesota Guidestar Board of Directors provides a mechanism for government, academia, and private industry to discuss trends and strategic planning of CAV and other ITS technologies. This group meets quarterly in the Twin Cities Metro Area.
