2013 Aviation Career Education (ACE) Camp
June 23-29 & July 14-20
Each summer the Federal Aviation Administration, and the MnDOT Office of Aeronautics co-sponsor the Aviation Career Education (ACE) Camp. Open to Minnesota students who will be entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, ACE Camp allows students to explore a wide variety of aviation careers and all aspects of the aviation and aerospace industries through tours and hands-on projects. Campers are also given the opportunity to fly in a helicopter, pilot a single-engine aircraft, and take the controls of a glider.

MnDOT Aeronautics Adopt-A-School Program Nationally Recognized
MnDOT Aeronautics, Aviation Education, Safety, and Training Section was recognized for its Adopt-A-School program by the presentation of the NASAO Center Aviation Education Program Award at the 77th Annual National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) Convention and Tradeshow. The convention, held in Anchorage, Alaska, September 27- 30, 2008, was attended by Aeronautics Directors from more than 40 states, along with industry experts and Federal Aviation Administration officials.
Minnesota Aviation Education Employees Earn Federal Recognition
Four Minnesota Department of Transportation employees were recognized today by the Federal Aviation Administration for outstanding and consistent promotion of K-12 aviation education throughout Minnesota.
Office of Aeronautics Publishes Two New Children's Books
Don Hinz and The Red Tail Project (a story of Tuskegee Airmen and the P-51C Mustangs) and Eyes in the Sky (a book introducing students of all ages to an exciting career as an air traffic controller) are the two new additions to our growing list of reading materials for children. 2012 Minnesota General Aviation Maintenance Technician of the Year Award
The 2012 Minnesota General Aviation Maintenance Technician of the Year award winner this year is Janese Thatcher, MnDOT, Office of Aeronautics, Manager of Aviation Education, Safety and Training. Jim Nieoff, Minnesota FAASTeam Manager presented Janese with 2012 Minnesota and Great Lakes Region aviation maintenance awards at the Minnesota Aviation Maintenance Technician Conference advisory meeting. Congratulations Janese! Applications and nominations are now being accepted for the 2013 General Aviation Awards Program from July 1 to September 30.
